Eating Out Tips

Purezza

One of the most asked question which I get is “What happens when you eat out?” and in all honestly it can be slightly restrictive. I am fortunate that my family and friends are considerate, so will always opt for restaurants which have gluten-free and vegan options. However, I have found myself going for dinners at places where I can literally eat nothing on the menu. This can be frustrating and definitely make eating out a less-enjoyable experience. So, here are my top tips for how to not end up in these situations and how to deal with them if you do.

  1. Do your research! I can’t stress this enough and it has actually been fun finding small, off-the-track restaurants which I would have never come across before. The internet is a great place to start and by simply typing vegan or gluten free restaurants into your search bar, you can find a wealth of options. There are also apps which are updated with suitable restaurants in your area. My favourite is Happy Cow.
  2. Phone in advance! If you find your friends or family have booked a table somewhere you have never been, give them a call. Quite often I have found the menus online lack information but staff are always happy to advice and it prevents ‘awkward’ conversations at the table.
  3. Ask the waiter! When you’re in a restaurant and there is literally nothing on the menu that you can eat, just ask. This has happened to me a couple of times and each time the chef has been happy to adapt a meal on the menu which I fancy.

Happy eating!
